Welcome to 5redballs!
We exist for two rather compatible reasons:
- To help you find, be passionate about, and own original art
- To support local artists in their passion – creating great art
5redballs was founded and launched in Boston in September 2009 in response to challenges Founder, Kate Chen, experienced in finding fabulous and affordable original art work for her own walls. “I knew that ‘my art’ was out out there somewhere – in a studio or closet or basement – and that its artist was likely as eager to sell as I was to buy. But how to connect, and with my busy schedule, in my price range, and in tune with my taste?”
5redballs was created for all of you art lovers, like Kate, who have need a way to purchase original art that fits your lifestyle, timeframe, taste, and price range. We represented a select group of outstanding local artists that are not well-represented by galleries and not selling enough of their art – artists that have the art that you want.
So we created a website. Nothing extraordinary there. Common technology—the internet and online purchasing—to complement the existing efforts of local artists and open studios. 5redballs is just a 21st century way to do an age-old thing, bring great art and art lovers together. We hope you get to know the site and see for yourself why it is something new and special for you in the arts.
