Harvard Magazine

October 25th, 2009

If you receive Harvard Magazine, New England region, look for our 5redballs advertisement in the Holiday Wish List shopping guide of the November/December issue just out.  The image is of 5red artist Julie Angela Theresa’s stunning work “Promise.”   You will also find the Holiday Wish List at Harvard Magazine online: http://harvardmagazine.com/specialsections/wishlist.

Many thanks to Abigail Williamson of Harvard Magazine for helping us with our first venture into advertising, both in print and online.  Fingers crossed that this brings many new visitors to 5redballs.    What better time of the year to show appreciation for the work of these talented artists.    And, what’s more, an original work of art makes an unforgettable gift for the holidays.  Or if you have found one for yourself, enjoy having a little bit of “museum” in your own home this season.

Look. Love. Buy. Hang. Smile.

5redballs in Fort Point

October 20th, 2009

On Saturday, October 17, 2009, 5redballs made its open studios debut at the Fort Point Channel Open Studios in Boston.  4 out of the 8 current 5red artists have studios in Fort Point.  Attendees had the first chance ever to “Spot the Balls” on the artists’ walls.   ”Member, 5redballs.com” signs hung in the studios of Eli Alperowicz, Ian Kennelly, Amy Baxter MacDonald, and Sterling Mulbry.  If you spotted them, let me know.

At Fort Point, it was also the first time that our new logo was revealed, used on the signs.  As of this writing, the new logo had not yet been uploaded to the website, so Fort Point visitors got a sneak peek.  And I am pleased to report that the artists approved of the new design on the signs. Thank you CoDesign of Boston for the perfect logo.

I also had the pleasure, between not-so-stealth hangings of Member signs, of coming across 3 new artists, each of whose work blew me away.  It was desperately hard not to buy pieces myself.  Look for these new artists and works on 5red over the next few weeks.

5redballs:  Happy hanging.

5redballs opens first in Boston

September 15th, 2009

On Saturday, September 19, 2009, 5redballs entered the art scene, giving art lovers everywhere an easy and sophisticated new way to search, see, and own original art from local Boston artists.  By combining the ease and privacy of online shopping, with the energy and culture of the local art scene, the unique selection of a local bookstore, a commitment to local arts and local economies, and a reasonable range of prices, 5redballs has something for everyone … particularly great works of art.   And when each peice is an original chosen by you, while others might have your same car or butter dish, it is guaranteed that they won’t have your art.
